There are over 5000 yoga studios in the US and many of these studios have a retail space where they sell yoga clothing and apparel, yoga props (such as yoga mats, yoga mat bags, blocks, etc.) and other items that appeal to yoga students. You have a product that appeals to a yoga audience, but how do you get your product sold at these yoga studios? ...Libby of Yoga Stick-e Socks, whose products are distributed at many yoga studios, shared some great tips on how to get your products in front of studio owners or buyers.
What do yoga and skiing have in common? They both need muscle strength and endurance, balance, flexibility and mental focus.
With the colder weather this year, our nearby ski hills and resorts have a great snow pack and have great ski conditions that should last through March. Others of you are gearing up for your spring ski trip out west.
To get you ready both physically and mentally for the slopes, YOGA is the key. Yoga not only helps work on muscle endurance and strength with many of the standing poses but in addition incorporates breathe and mind into the equation. Yoga can also help protect against injury by addressing muscle imbalances and improving flexibility.
This improved body awareness is important when navigating the terrain with other skiers and snowboarders.
Equally important is CORE strength when it comes to the slopes. By controlling your power through your core, you can alleviate some of the pressure on the knees and keep your body working in synergy. Many of my favorite yoga poses stretch and strengthen your abdominals and back muscles.
I'm a skier and the first long run of the year always turns on the burning sensation in the quads - reminding me of the importance of my yoga practice. I even attempted snowboarding for a day and it was crystal clear that body awareness and balance are absolutely required to survive on a board. Whether you are carving "S" turns on your skis or on your board - yoga is truly a great primer for these sports.
Check out a yoga class at your health club or nearby yoga studio. If you'd rather practice in the privacy of your own home, try Yoga DVD to teach you proper form.
A yoga mat is always recommended. The sticky property of a yoga mat keeps your feet in place and helps you hold the poses. If you are one of those people who are always cold in the winter or if your feet sweat a lot - check out Yoga Stick-e socks.
Being barefoot is key for a successful yoga experience - you can try these socks and still have that barefoot feeling. By Chris Freytag
These items help you increase physical activity and get the most out of workouts. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' new guidelines say adults should do at least 2.5 hours a week of mederately intense physical activity.
DON'T LET IT SLIP
The practice of yoga has been around for thousands of years so it's kind of hard to improve upon. Yet Yoga Stick-e Socks manage to do so. The comfortable sweat-absorbing material and sticky pads on the bottom allow you to hold tricky poses without slipping. $20 yogastickysocks.com

A proper yoga pose typically requires concentration, balance and careful body control. And nothing throws these off more quickly than a lack of traction. Sure, a good yoga mat can keep you from slip-slidin' away during most moves. But some people, especially beginners, can use a little added security, especially when feet get sweaty...
Stick It to the Mat, Stick-e Socks will have you falling head over heels, with your feet planted firmly on the ground ($19.95, www.yogastickysocks.com).
NEW STUFF... Stick-e Situation by Gerrie E. Summers
Yoga Stick-e Socks are sweat-absorbing, non-slip socks with exposed toes allowing your tootsies to breathe and grip. The socks are great for yoga, pilates, karate, and even pedicures. Available in small, medium and large (also men's medium and large) and six color combinations, $19.95. To order, visit www.yogastickysocks.com or call 252-762-2088.
The situation is a familiar one. You are getting ready for yoga, pilates, or dance class when you realize you don't want to touch the floor with bare feet (foot fungus? no, thanks.) and you can't wear normal socks for fear of slipping and sliding all over the floor. But, with the invention of Yoga Stick-e Socks, consider this predicament a thing of the past. Made with "soft-as-silk" bamboo, the non-slip, sweat-absorbing socks are, as founder Libby Andrews puts it, "the perfect combination of getting that barefoot feeling while maintaining the ability to hold different poses." And, at $19.95 a pair of either black or beige, you've officially run out of excuses for skipping your weekly yoga class. www.yogastickysocks.com. by Rachel Grice
To better reflect its new business, Libby's Luxuries LLC has changed its name to Stick-e Brands. Libby's Luxuries, based in Flossmoor, IL, started in 2004 as a maker of purses and jewelry, but last December saw great success when it released its newly patented Yoga Stick-e Socks. Since then, it has expanded the Stick-e brand with a full line of non-slip yoga accessories, says owner, Libby Andrews.
Today, the stick-e line includes Yoga Stick-e Socks, Yoga Stick-e Gloves, Yoga Stick-e Towels, Yoga Stick-e Mats, and the Hot & Stick-e Hip Hop Yoga DVD. New retailers include Bed Bath and Beyond, Academy Sports, Health and Sport, City Sports, Solutions Catalog, FootSmart Catalog and Walmart.com.
The new company name is on the Yoga Stick-e Mats that began shipping this month and will be on all future packaging as the company cycles through its inventory, Andrews said.
The company has also devised a new slogan: "Stick-e Solutions for Slippery Problems!" And it wants to solve more of them. Along with making her products a mainstay in yoga studios, Andrews wants to broaden the appeal of her brand to other sports, design new products specifically for those sports and create new sizes.
"We would like to see more martial arts, and dancers experiencing the benefits of Yoga Stick-e Socks and to launch them into children's sizes," Andrews said. "We also plan to build on the success of YOga Stick-e Socks and bring the same patented product made from other materials to beach and water sports, including surfing, sailing and beach volleyball."
Although Libby Andrews, MBA’94, has been creating handbags and jewelry since 2003 through her Chicago-area company, Libby’s Luxuries, she recently stretched her business to include a line of yoga products, like these patented non-slip socks—hygienic, sweat absorbent, and almost like being barefoot.
Sock manufacturer, Libby's Luxuries -- manufacturer of Yoga Stick-e socks -- recently announced four new products at the Health and Fitness Business trade Show and the IDEA World Fitness Conference.
Perfect for athletic women, Libby's Luxuries launched a Yoga Stick-e towel, providing a non-slip, sweat-absorbing, soft barrier. The back of the machine washable towel has two stick-e panels preventing the towel from slipping during exercise.
The Illinois based sock company is also introducing Yoga Stick-e gloves that absorb sweat, and a Yoga Stick-e Mat ...with an attachable/detachable shoulder strap that can be used to hang the mat to air dry or hang in the shower to wash easily.
Lastly, a Hot & Stick-e Hip Hop Yoga workout DVD is also offered with hip hop choreographer Dana Stevens. ..

The Novaks have been on a mission for the last few months to find more yoga and Pilates gear they can sell. In fact, they picked up an item called Yoga Stick-e Socks (www.yogastickysocks.com) after reading about the toeless crop socks (MSRP $20) with a rubberized sole in SNEWS in February. The sock company had just been announced as a finalist for a BrandNew award at the winter ispo show in Germany.
Founder Libby Andrews has been swamped with requests and orders for her socks and will exhibit at the Health & Fitness Business show in July to introduce what she calls a Stick-e Towel ($30.00) that has a rubberized strip on one side, created to solve the problem of towels that slip off benches, mats or treadmills. She's also off to create a "Stick-e" empire with a mat coming soon.
Yoga Stick-e Gloves By Alyson Mance June 9, 10:43 AM
Okay, this one's a personal Gimme. I love yoga, but I also have the clammiest hands in the world. Gross. However, there's now a company called Stick-e that makes gloves, socks, and yoga mats that stick to the ground so you aren't sliding all over the place while posing, and it's quite possibly one of the most clever-yet-simple inventions of the past few years.
On the socks and gloves, here's a little grippy gel pad where your soles/palms go, so you can enjoy a relaxing session without sliding all over the place in the meantime (all those other Clammy Sammies out there know exactly how ridiculously difficult Downward Dog is when your palms aren't cooperating).
Also, the fact that these were invented at all means there are more people like me out there, which is kind of a comforting feeling. I'm now addicted to these things!
Stick-e also has a "Hip Hop Yoga" DVD, but I don't know about all that.
Yoga Stick-e Socks – Owner and inventor Libby Andrews was blown away with the reaction to her toeless socks, just out in December, with a rubbery bottom for yoga. In fact, she said on the first day she already had distributors fighting over the rights for their country. They are a fascinating, simple idea that goes beyond yoga to dance, martial arts and other forms of workouts and practices that are best with barefeet but where you need a little grip or protection. www.yogastickysocks.com

From some of my other posts you know I am a yoga fan. Yoga is awesome for stretching out those sore muscles you get from sitting too long at a computer…not that I…do that or anything. But I ran into a yoga problem at my new house. The room I like to do yoga in (floor to ceiling windows all along one wall) has a hard wood laminate floor and when you do yoga on a rug or a yoga mat…you slip and slide and almost break your neck…or smack your head into the brick fireplace…neither of which is very fun or calming. Even the so-called “sticky” mats don’t often work….I have a few different mats. Bare feet on the floor doesn’t work either…darn that oil slick in my family room.
